EphPod and WinAmp and MMJB

I've ordered a 10iPod and wonder a bit how these things work because it's my first iPod.
I use WinAmp to play all my mp3's that are in a Music-directory.
I don't want to use EphPod or MMJB as standard player. I guess this is no problem.
My question is why is EphPod better and how it is gonna work with my existing mp3's, is it just as simple as to define where all my mp3's are? Are any additonal preferences required?

Thanks

why not surf over to ephpod.com and try it out yourself...

When starting ephpod just tell it to use a floppy disk or digital camera drive as it's ipod source and you can then try it out like ou already had your iPod...

-Musicmatch jukebox tries to do it all, a bit like windows media player does too..

it'll create a 'library' where all your music will show up and you can rip and burn cd's with it etc etc

-Ephpod however only sends and copies files to and from your iPod. Meaning you press 'add files', browse to them on your HDD and then upload a copy of them to your iPod.

It's useful if that's all you want to do with it and also works better for most people than musicmatch does.

-Xplay and Mediacentre 9 are two other programmes than will also interface with the iPod, i don't really know them though...

So ephpod sounds like the ticket for you!

Can't you play songs directly from the ipod? Like on my Laptop with little drivespace..

If I'm not mistaken there was a winamp-plugin so you could play directly from the player? Atleast with the old ipods..?

Why would I want to play music on my computer thru an iPod? I mean the music is already on the computer (home computer, not a laptop). Same thing about that everyone talks about playing music from iPod thru an stereo. It seems stupid if you are already home and can play the music thru the computer, which I almoust do all the time.

That's a good point! I would much rather save battery and play music on the computer when I am at home...

Yes, you can do that with ephpod to, just select the songs in the menu and press 'play'.

It will play them in your default music player...

For many people with limited drive space this is one of the major benefits of iPod:

You can just copy all your music to it, delete the music on your HDD (after making bakups of it on a CD-R or something) and then just plug your iPod into your home-stereo system and never have to bother with changing cd's again!!!

AND your harddrive is nice and free again.

(i know you could just burn mp3's to CD-R's and play it using them and your PC, but that is just such a hassle, changing cd's and not being able to play a PC game whilst listening to music etc etc)

Doesn't really apply as you can just hook you iPod up to the mains and then use it to play music, whilst charging ip up at the same time!!

And your PC wastes more electricity whilst playing music than your iPod+stereo (i guess anyway).

So mother nature wins too!!!

iPod - For a more harmonious, cleaner, safer world! (i should make slogans for apple, huh?)

iPod for President!!!! (processing power probably greater than Bush's anyway!!)
