W2K Instant Reboot

I have a dual booted W2K/XP Pro system. Firewire card is the Belkin USB2/Firewire combo. I have one of the old style ipods.
I installed the ipod software and MMJB in XP and everything works as expected. I thought that I would look at the MMJB alternatives in W2K to avoid any conflicts, but as soon as I connect the ipod, my computer reboots. I've looked in the old forums, but it can't be power as the card has an on- board power connector (and it works in XP anyway). Both O/S's have easy CD installed, so I don't see why it should cause problems in one O/S and not the other!
Any suggestions gratefully received, thanks

Just to update anyone who might have looked at this thread. After searching around for a few days, I could think of nothing else to do except change the startup and recovery options to not reboot on failure but to "blue screen" instead. Having done this, I rebooted and much to my surprise, when I connected the ipod, everything worked! Sometimes I hate computers :).
