Is this normal?

When connected to dock I have "Do not disconnect" text on my iPod?s screen all the time with the flashing sign. I?m using Ephpod on XP and my iPod is connected via Firewire. I think it should only say "Do not disconnet" when making some changes on your iPod, up/downloading songs etc. Am I right?

Hello juhanisalo,

The 'Do not diconnect' sign is there to let you know that the Ipod has been mounted and recongnised by the computer.

This is normal behaviour.

If you just want to place the Ipod in the dock and charge it without transferring, then unmount the Ipod from the computer. This will remove the 'Do not disconnect' sign.

In order to unmount the Ipod, double click the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the notification area (near the clock), and highlight the Ipod and click on Stop, then OK.

Alternatively, left-click the Safely Remove Hardware icon once, and select the iPod from the menu. Shaves a precious second off the time it takes to do so the other way ;)

Ok, good to know. Just been messing with a netMD for a year and it says "do no disconnect" only when making changes. Thank God I don't have to use that thing anymore!! :D
