Playlists...
Hi guys, you may remember me from a couple of weeks ago. I've got my iPod working well now, and have almost my entire cd collection on it now.
I'm still using MusicMatch Jukebox for my sins at the moment. It seems to be that in order to make playlists I have to have the tracks on my PC in order to do this. The thing is my system is now extremely, extremely low on memory now as I have 10 gb worth of music on my PC. Are there any programs, or is there any way to make up playlists for the iPod without having to have the music on the PC?
Could I have say the songs on the iPod, decide to make a playlist, transfer the music from iPod to PC and then import the playlist + tracks back to the iPod. Would XPlay or any of these other programs help with this?
Obviously the "On the go" playlist is great and handy to a certain extent but I need something more substantial playlist wise...
Any help and advice greatly appreciated as my system is under great strain now!!!

With ephpod and Xplay you can make playlists directly on the iPod. MC9 too, but it's really more suited to keeping your media on your PC like MMJB.
Just remember, the playlists you make directly on the iPod will not be "saved" anywhere except on the iPod and you can't get them off of the iPod.

Hey MOCKBA, well, do you mean the ability to "save" iPod playlists into some format on a PC?
Not sure how you would do that, I guess just extracting the list of songs would be useful enough, but to save them as .m3u files doesn't seem like it would have too much value, since the file paths would have to be from the iPod.
Or am I missing you're point entirely which is very common for me these days. ;)

It could be some external format, for example XML including path information as well. So, iPod software can read this file and restore, or merge lists. It won't be portable across different iPods, although some portability can be here, so if some other iPod has a song with the same title, artist, and album, then it can be listed as well. Actually I see the following usages:
1. keep some play lists for specific occasions on desktop computer to do not overload iPod with big number of lists.
2. Exchange play lists with other iPoders (it can be fun, but require to have similar CD set ripped).
If consider .m3u list, then iPod hard disk path can be stored here, and such list can be played using a standard media player.
