Software 1.3 and volume limitation
Hello
I have a Us 5 gb 1gen ipod,us model,but i live in Europe..
I've been using the firmware that came with the ipod for a long time now,but tonight i decided to update to firmware 1.3, but i was conceerend that i would get the volume limitation, since im in the eu..
So i just tought,,what the heck, and updated to 1.3.. and strange.. no volume limitation.. why is this? thought since im in the eu,my ipod would be flashed as an eu ipod...
But im happy :) still works good.. long battery life. and it sounds great..
But one strange thing.. i have a lot of albums on it.. all in VBR,in windows i tells me that i have 1.3gb available wich i suppose is right, but on the ipod it says.. 4.6gb total / 3.6gb free ... this is strange.. anyone?

# 1 Re: Software 1.3 and volume limitation
Hello from Greece,
I own a windows version 10GB 2nd generation iPod.
I tested my iPod using either firmware 1.22 (which is in the original cd) or 1.3 (downloaded from Apple) for several times on WinXP En with Greek localizations. Here are my conclusions:
1.There was no limit file in either cases.
2.Using 1.22 the volume level was indeed not enough.
3.Using 1.3 the volume level change dramatically louder, so much that the original headphones couldn't handle it.
4.I think that the problem with the volume limitation only persists when using 1.22 firmware. That is why Apple describe it as for European customers only. There is no such description in 1.3 Updater...
So Apple gave the solution silently...??
