Ok what do I do?

Hello all,

I just recieved my new 30gig Ipod. I have a bit of a problem here that I am not sure how to deal with. I have a PC, not a Mac. I now have both a 20gig and 30gig Ipod. Do I have to uninstall the old software and install the software that came with my 30gb? And if I do have to do this, will my old Ipod work with this newer software? Do I have to install any software at all? Can I just use the software that is already installed that I have been using with the 20gb? Can anyone give me some tips.

THanks!

please try to be more specific as to which software you installed. the new ipod firmware (2.0) that comes with the 30gb won?t work with the 20gb. the newest official firmware for the windows ipod is firmware version 1.2.6 (http://ipodlounge.com/downloads_windows.php?id=0).

programmes like xplay, ephpod ought to work or will work for both once you update them.

you don?t need any of the software that came with the 30 gb for the 20 gb ipod. you only need the software for the 30gb at the beginning to format the ipod to the windows fat32 system from the mac hfs+ system. once this is done, you can sync with ephpod or xplay or media centre 9. avoid mmjb. it tends to be a pain.

Ok maybe I need to be more clear. I currently have a 20 gb Ipod. I have all the latest software for the 20gb Ipod installed on my PC (which I believe is 1.2.6). I just recieved my new 30gb Ipod. So what do I need to do to use both my 20gb and my 30gb ipod on the same PC? I have done nothing with my PC and my new 30gb Ipod other than charge the new Ipod.

your 30gb ipod comes mac formatted (hfs+). you need to reformat it with the supplied cd to fat32. you can from then choose to use the supplied mmjb software to upload songs or go with some other software like ephpod, xplay, mc9...

both your ipods are good to go. have fun! :)
