Uploading songs from IPOD to your computer
Long story short, all of my music is now ONLY on my IPOD. I have tried to upload it from the IPOD back onto my computer but have not been able to.
I have downloaded all the songs into my MusicMatch library but it says I have to be CONNECTED to the Ipod if I want to listen to them.
I have tried to go to My Computer and then to the IPOD Drive (which is F Drive) but it does not let me pull up my songs. It does not even show up there. All it shows is Calendar, Contacts and something else. But NO music.
I know the music is there. I see it on the IPOD itself and when I open it with Music Match.
This is driving me insane. All I want to do is transfer my music back from my IPOD onto my hardrive.
Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry to tell you, you can't.
I guess you're using window since you use musicmatch. The transfering from iPod to PC can only be done in Mac.
Currently there is no software out there yet for window to do this.

I actually found out you can. I a couple of different ways.
You can trun on Hidden Files to see Ipod Controller in you IPOD folder. This will let you see your music. Thanks to Ashawley for that one.
I actually used a program called Ephpod to download the music to my hard drive. Worked great and the program is free.
I actually erased all my music files out of my Limewire folder thinking I had them in my Music Match folder. They just showed up in my Music Match folder with their destination folder in Limewire. I erased like 600 songs.
Luckily, I had most of them donwloaded onto my IPOD. With the help of the tips above I was able to restore them onto my hard drive.

ephpod (www.ephpod.com) has a "copy to directory" command. that should be all you need.
just be #### sure you don't accidentally sync, though!

What happens if you sync? I may have done it. I am not sure.
I am feeling ill right now. I think it is from syncing with ephpod.

I too have all my songs on my iPod. I've a 30gb iPod and a 20gb HDD on my work supplied laptop (which shouldn't really have my MP3 library on it) the maths is quite easy.
ephPod is great for uploading. If you copy the ephPod directory onto the iPod you can run the software when plugged into any machine. You can then upload or download with any willing friends' music collection.
Doublewide, I'm afraid to say, if you haven't already found out by yourself, that synching a "full" iPod with an "empty" HDD will result in the HDD take priority.
empty HDD -> full iPod = empty iPod!!
I suggest KaZaA, CDex and a couple of weeks off work to recover!
Both yourself as well as your music librabry that is.

whats up guys, "the daddy" regarding your last post on copy ephpod onto the ipod and running it from the ipod, what do you mean copy the directory, do mean the program folder from windows programs? example: c:/program files/ephpod
thanks man
# 7 Re: Uploading songs from IPOD to your computer
You need to copy the windows directory /ephpod to the iPod.
When the iPod is then plugged in to another computer.
- let it recognise the iPod as an external drive
- run ephpod.exe from the iPod
- hey presto
You can upload/down to/from your "friends" MP3 collection to your hearts content!
