Recharge ipod on a pc with firewire
At the moment I have my iPod connected to my pc via usb2. The problem with this is that it does not recharge the battery while it is connected. So it always runs out of power when I transfer (if I transfer many songs).
So I thought of buying a firewire card. But I heard that the iPod will not recharge throug a pci firewire card. Is this true?
If I buy a new motherboard, for example with the nForce2 chipset and use the built in firewire there, will that work?? Will it recharge my battery then while I transfer my music?

I have an asus nforce 2 ultra mb with built in firewire, and as long as it's the bigger 6 pin connected it charges it.

PCI firewire cards WILL charge the iPod... Don't buy a new motherboard, just a pci firewire card.

Just make sure its a 6pin firewire--4pin won't charge, as stated above. And you're better off buying a firewire card (adaptec is the favorite around here) and installing it then buying one that comes with the motherboard--lot's of people have had trouble with firewire cards included with the motherboard.

I also bought the cheapest available firewire card (half the price of the adaptec one), and it works perfect.
