What about the "the"?

Is your artist tag "The Beatles," "The Doors," "The Band"? Isn't that a drag for finding them? Or are they "Doors" and "Band"? But how can that be?

Works great.

I have "The Beatles", "The Doors", etc. but on my iPod they show up automatically under 'B' and 'D' respectively. I only wish MC9.1 was as smart.
What am I missing?

Yeah exactly, I have them in the iPod with The but EphPod doesn't read it like that. No big deal really, if I want to find The Bealtes i just look under T.

It does annoy me that De La Soul is alphabetized under L though...

If it weren't, I'd hate to think what songs by the band The The would be listed under ;)

Hmm...interesting. I just upgraded my 2nd gen iPod to version 1.3 but with v1.2.6 if I tagged "The Beatles" properly rather than as "Beatles, The" the iPod would file them under the "Ts". Now that I've done the firmware update I'll have to test it to see if this is still the case. Based on MidPack's post (he has a 3rd gen 15 gig), I can only assume that 3rd gen iPods running firmware 2.x do not have this issue.

No, Nitro, effective w/firmware 1.2 (for 1st and 2nd geners), the iPod ignores leading articles. So, you should have been seeing this w/1.2.6 and of course w/1.3

So, "The Beatles" will be sorted under "B".

It works most of the time, expect when you get bands like "Die Young", "Die" being an article in German means that this band would get sorted under "Y".

But for the most part it works good.

Yep, i have tons of 'the' bands on my ipod, and as i live in germany i also have a few 'die' bands...

Great feature as it makes finding artists a lot easier especially in the car at red lights etc
