Win 98SE, iPod, and me! (help)
This has probably been covered, but I haven't seen it, and I have been browsing these forums for a few days now.
I just bought a 15G iPod.
I am on WIN98 SE. I have a DURON 850MMX, and 511MB of RAM. I have firewire (I edit digital video) that works.
I keep reading that WIN98 doesn't work with iPod, but some programs work with iPod and WIN98 SE.
Here's my situation: I don't want to mess this iPod up, or really lose using WIN 98SE.
What should I do? I keep hearing EphPod, and looked all over those forums as well, but am still a bit unsure at how to proceed.
You well-knowledged Windows iPod users out there... given my system stats, what would YOU do if YOU were in MY shoes?
Thanks a lot for your time and answers...

Well, first I'd read this post (http://ipodlounge.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2970) to learn how to get the Updater extracted to your PC from the 2.0.1 update.
Run the Updater.exe file, click the restore button to convert your iPod to Windows format.
Then, download MC9, Xplay or ephpod and use them to transfer.
No problem.

I'm going to try this. Thanks.
Is MMJB really that bad? I use it on my desktop and I really like it.

I finally had enough time to do this.
I downloaded MacOpener and installed it.
I opened EphPod and hooked my iPod to the firewire.
VIOLA!
The only problem I had was the firewire not transferring fast enough, and sometimes bogging down.
I am going to try it again in a few minutes, but make sure all my programs are closed in the background. Should make the transfer work better.
Thanks for your help!!!! I can use my iPod on WIN98SE!!!!!!!

You don't need the macopener version of ephpod since you have a WiPod. Uninstall MacOpener and download and install the Windows Only version of ephpod. That might speed things up.

I will try it later tonight, or tomorrow. Thanks a TON adam. You have been a huge help.
I watched my friend load his new 15G iPod in minutes... HIS firewire (on an iMac) is BLAZING.
