Reverse sync?

Here's the setup, I have a computer at home and a computer at work. I would like it very much if there were some way to keep both systems synced up using the iPod.

Here's what I'm talking about, let's say I rip a new CD at home and add it to my music library in MMJB and then sync my iPod to the home computer. What I want is to take the iPod into work and sync it to my work computer and have it add the new mp3s to the music library on the Work computer.

So both machines, and the pod have all the same songs.

There has to be a way to do this.

Thanks, -Steve

Yes there is a way to do this. I don't know if it's capable with MMJB, but you can do it with ephpod and MC9.

Just do a sync.

Nope, that doesn't work. Ephpod sync works fine for getting songs onto the pod, but I can't get it to copy songs from the pod to the PC.

Download MC9. This will definitely get your songs on your work PC. You get a trial version for 30 days and then it's only $40, but it's well worth it.:D

Hold up hold up, Timmy...

Ephpod can copy songs off of the iPod, and so can MC9. But they do it manually, rather than automatically like ctepher is after.

With any currently available iPod synching tool, the sync is one-way only: PC to iPod. As it stands now, "sync" is synonymous with "make your iPod's music look like your computer's music".

Ctepher, if you're after software that can sync the "other direction", I'm afraid that I don't believe any exist at this time.

Ephpod and MC9 can, again, copy music from your iPod to your PC, but you must first select the music on your ipod manually and copy it off via your own mousework/clicks.

Well in a way MC9 will "sync" in reverse. If you go and download all songs to PC, it's kind of like syncing.;)

Just use Ephpod to find a song, right click it, and select "copy to directory" or something like that.

What you say of MC9 is true, but it's not syncing, it's just over-copying. If all that music is there already, why copy it all over again? It was true for synching to the iPod, it'd be true for synching from the iPod also, eh? ;)

Sorry about that. I understand it's not syncing. Sorry for some of the misinfo, ctepher. Alot of times I don't think before I type. I guess i'm not totally MC9 literate yet or the whole syncing issue either.:(

But you ARE a sexy beast, at least. Even if you can't dance as well as I can, aye?

That I am. That I am. I'm trying to get him to dance, but it just isn't working. Once I do he'll be dancing circles around Britany Spears.:D

Um, anyway, thanks to both of you for responding so fast.

I think what I'll do is just use Ephpod to copy all the songs from the pod to the Office PC. Then When I want to "sync" new stuff later, I'll just open the "Recent" playlist in Ephpod and copy those songs to the work PC.

Thanks for the tips.
