3rd gen Ipod,USB,WinXP,Xplay

just got a 15gb Ipod that already has latest firmware.I've got the Apple USB cable but have not installed anything yet.As I don't need to update the firmware, how do I format the Ipod for Windows? Will just installing Xplay automaticly format my Ipon to a Winpod,or do I need to do something else?
Sorry If this is a stupid question, just trying to avoid messing up from the start.BTW great forum!

You'll need to use the Updater from Apple to convert it to a WiPod. All of the new iPods come automatically as MiPods.

Just download the 2.0.1 Updater (http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/), install it and run it (Start>Programs>iPod>Updater). You'll only be able to click the "restore" button since you already have 2.0.1 on there.

Then use Xplay, MC9 or ephpod to upload.
