moving files from pod to hd

Can I back up my ipod? I would like move all the files from my pod to my hard drive to burn to a cd in the event of a pod crash. After restoring the pod can I replace the files back to the ipod?

if you use mc9, sure--just mark every file, create a desltop folder called ipod or whatever, and send it over. no biggie

you can also move files easily using ephpod (www.ephpod.com) which is a free programme as opposed to mc9 (about $40 i think?)

Just install it, select ipod in the pull-down menu and then select the song/album/artist/playlist you want to transfer to your harddrive and then right-click to select 'copy to folder'

Then select a folder on your hdd and hey presto it'll send all the files over with the filenames restored to be the same as the id3 tags!
