restore process hangs

Hi,
Help. I'm now on my second ipod (the first didn't work at all and had to be sent back).

I've followed all instructions from this forum on how to restore the ipod using only ipod updater. I used nothing else from the CD. I plugged in my firewire cable, inserted my ipod into the cradle and ran the restore function. Now, more than an hour has gone by. The ipod screen went through a series of displays from "do not disconnect" to "apple symbol" to "language settings" and now the "charging" symbol. The software on my computer however says that it is still restoring. When I try to close the box, it says "Can't interrupt restore process. Application will close when process complete."

Now what?

Check out this link for detailed step by step instructions and try to follow them closely:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60983

Like the step say in the above article, at some point you will need to disconnect and reconnect the iPod so it can reboot and finish updating.

If you continue to have problems even following the steps post with details...

Good luck...

All you need to do, is disconnect the iPod, plug it into the AC Adaptor and a progress bar will come up. When that completes you're all set.
