Win98SE special setup?
I just recieved my iPod from Volkswagen, and used the supplied AC wall adapter and USB cable to start charging it. I've got to go pick up my FireWire card, but when I get back tonight I'm going to install everything and (hopefully) get going.
I have Win98SE. I'm installing the FireWire card and then updating w/the Microsoft patch before I do anything. I did read the sticky about the firmware updater workaround. If I'm using XPlay, then is it necessary to install ANYTHING from the Apple CD besides the updater? Once the updater formats the iPod for Windows, can I just install XPlay right then?
Also, is the setup the same as the Apple instruction booklet says, with the exception of not installing MMJB and doing the updater workaround? All the cables and everything get hooked up the same?

One thing, make sure to install the firewire patch before installing the firewire card. That's important.
As far as everything else, no, you don't need to install anything off of the CD. Just get the updater from Apple's website and follow the instructions outlined in the thread you referenced.
The hookup is the same.
