Audible.com playback is disabled over time

My 30GB iPod seems to have a problem working with Audible's sound files. On one downloaded book, after transferring the file to the iPod using EphPod (Windows-based software), it will work flawlessly on the iPod for some time (play, rewind, etc. work). Perhaps 1 day of normal uses passes, with the iPod being turned off and on. Then, when I try to access the file, I cannot play it. I can only get as far as the Browse>Albums>Audible.com>track title listing in iPod. Pressing enter usually brings one to the "Now Playing" menu; instead, nothing happens.
The only thing that helps is deleting the file on the iPod and then downloaded the exact same file from my computer (using EphPod). At this point it will work normally, for a while, and then stops as described above.

I'd appreciate any help with this problem. It seems obvious there is no problem with the raw Audible .aa file itself - as when I delete and redownload to the iPod from my computer it works once again for a while.

Does anyone know of any glitches between iPod and the Audible format?

-30GB iPod
-using ONLY Audible format 4 (I've heard others here having problems with iPod and Audible format 2, but I'm not using that)
-EphPod to transfer Audible.com files

Thanks,
Mike

You mention you use Ephpod to transfer Audible files. How do you transfer your music files?

I also use Ephpod to transfer Audible files to my 10 gig (1.26 firmware) but if I follow that by transferring music files with MusicMatch, I get the same thing you describe. Audible files plays fine, but then after using Music Match, the Audible file still appears on the iPod, but it won't play.

For me the solution was to just start using EphPod exclusively for music and Audible files. Since then I have no problem.

Is it possible that this is whats happening to you?

Well, 10 minutes after I posted that message, Music Match released MMJB 8.0.

I just installed it and I'm happy to report that Music Match no longer kills my Audible files!

Yippppeee!

Thanks for the hint! That is exactly what must be happening, as I do use MMJB to transfer music files to my iPod.

I will upgrade to MMJB 8.0 so I can enjoy my Audible files not concking out :)

Thanks for solving my prob!

Hey Mike,
Can you report back and let me know if that did the trick for you? I just want to verify whether this fixes the problem for other people or if I just got lucky.

I've also had my Audible playback disabled for some reason. What you describe above may be the case, but I can't say for sure as I haven't had time to troubleshoot it. I loaded all my books with Audible's software, and I use MMJB for my audio files. I know the Audible files worked at one point, but they don't anymore.
