Can someone recommend a Firewire Card
Hi,
This is my first post here.
I'm hoping to buy a 15gb Ipod pretty soon, as long as I can find somewhere in the UK that has any stock.
Can anyone recommend a suitable Firewire Expansion card I can buy for my PC (windows xp) to transfer music to my Ipod.
If this is in wrong place apologies, please feel free to move to a more appropriate place.
Many Thanks,
David

**EDIT**: Blast! Todd, you beat me to it! :D
Welcome to the lounge baker. No, this is a fine place.
Here's my typical list, you'll probably find the same if you search around here.
In order of "best-ness" :D
1. Adaptec 4300
2. Orangelink Cards from Orange Micro
3. Any VIA-chipset card usually works.
I just recently purchased the Adaptec from Amazon for $41 (no tas, free shipping). Because I've recommended it so much and seen it work so well. It gave me an extra MB per second boost over my Orangelink cark. I'm not getting around 6MB/second on my old PC, before I was averaging 5MB/second.
Those are my recommendations. Stay away from the Apple suggested Belkin card, I've seen too many problems w/it. Also, avoid Creative's Audigy. For some folks it works, but for many more it doesn't.

I use a FireBoard Red which I got from Maplin.co.uk. They retail for about 35 quid, but have three ports and are pretty good all round. I haven't had any problems using the iPod with it.
Managed to transfer 16.7 Gb of songs in around 20 minutes last night which seems pretty quick to me (I could be wrong).
