You should use either Musicmatch or Tag&Rename and mass-retag all the tracks so they have the exact same ID3 tags under the artist and album.

You could also retag them with Ephpod, but you'd have to do each one by hand, and not make any Typos

Don't use MMJB or you may get even more Jay-Z's. Tag&Rename is great, but costs $, so go with ID3-Tagit.

Since this is platform-specific, I'm moving it to the Windows>General forum.

I had this problem and I fixed it with MMJB. What I believe is happening is there may be a varied amount of "spaces" after the artist name. While MMJB ignores them and reads it as one artist, the IPOD sees them as different and lists them separately.

Do a edit tags on all the songs for that artist and change the artist name so that there are no spaces at the end. It should fix it.

(Different capitalization will cause the same problem... Oh, and the spaces can cause the same problem for album names too...)

Good luck.

I had this problem as well... with the same artist nonetheless... lol. I had a 'Jay-Z', 'Jay- Z', 'Jay - Z', and 'Jay -Z'. It was quite annoying. I spent a good weekend re-tagging ALL my mp3s with ID3-Tagit. Great little program as you can tag in batch, take the tags from the filenames, etc. Oh yeah... and it's free!!
