Diskmode help

If I only have ephpod installed(no ipod manager), is it possible for the ipod to go into diskmode? Are there any steps I have to take?

No, it's already in disk mode. Look in My Computer. You'll see it there.

Windows natively sees the iPod as just another harddrive.

It's the silly Apple software that prevents it from being seen as a disk. If you've not installed it, then you're good to go.
