Saving NON MUSIC files to ipod...

Hi all,just a quickie,
can I use the Ipod to save files such as DVD rips ,realplayer movies etc in order to transfer them to another PC with a DVD writer?
If so,how on earth do I do it? I can't see anything in Ephod relating to it.
Any help appreciated.

Just use Windows Explorer to copy your files to the iPod. It's seen as a removable drive with it's own drive letter...

I can be incredibly clever about some things...and yet remarkably thick when it comes to others!

Done.Many thanks,

yea, some things are simpler than you think..... :)

I wish you could just drag and drop songs into the removable drive and play songs that way.. then you'd need NO software like musicmatch ephpod or anything...

Yeah..but then you would have thousands of mp3s scattered all over ur ipod with no organization.

spirit, you can do that, although you will need to buy xplay, which is exactly what it does, drag and drop to the drive.

The key to the iPod is it's organization. Without the software programs, the iPod's database wouldn't get updated, so you wouldn't be able to Browse>Artist>Album etc.

Even though Xplay has a drag-n-drop interface, it's still updating the database.

And, when Apple finally enables all the cool features in WiPods that MiPods have had (playcounts, ratings) well be happy that we have a database based player because we can use smartlists like the Mac folk use that are automatically updated based on what you've listened to on the iPod.

You can run EphPod from the Pod. Maybe they could put a (non-MMJB) program for music transfer on the Pod, and have it autostart when you plug it in. If you can have autostarts on removable drives. I wouldn't know.

Although this would facilitate stealing music.
