Very confused and frustrating IPOD
i have a 30g gen 3 ipod running under win 2k using ephpod. I have for the last couple weeks had no problems what so ever. However, in the past two days i have had a hell of a time putting any music on the IPOD. It crashes whilst connected to my computer; tells ephpod that it has 300mb free, but then tells the OS that the drive is full mid transfer of 100mb of files. It only crashes when it is near capacity.
Recently - it has crashed EVERYTIME i mount it. the drive letter disappears and i am unable to add any music to it. and even crashed while reapplying the 2.01 update.
I have removed the ipod_control numerous times, and have cleared the IPOD more times than i am happy about (takes 2 hours to sync my mp3s doh!). I have restored the IPOD using apples updater. I have used media center and formatted it and transfered my music using it. All to no avail.
It seems as though the OS is misreporting the drive space.. or that there is possibly some place on the IPOD that isn't writable. i am just making this up as i go.. so it could easily be user error. maybe i fuxored up while attempting to fix it.. nobody knows.. but if this sounds familiar.. let me know..
btw.. when i say crash i mean freeze.. and not respond.. usually the flashing "NO" sign stops flashing and the disk access animated symbol in the top right hand stops working..
anyway..
thanks for any help..
