Converting to Windows from Mac - cant!
Hi
I'm new to these forums, so apologies if this is not the right place or is against rules, but..
I have a 20gb mac ipod, which I got off a friend, and I want to convert it to windows. I have the winniepod updater program (v1.30) which I run, but it keeps telling me it can't mount the ipod. I'm assuming I can "see" the ipod ok from my pc, as it starts charging when I connect it up and also shows as removable in the taskbar in windows xp. Just don't know what I'm doing wrong, as I was told it was straightforward.
Anyone have any ideas on this? Would be much appreciated - cheers!! :)

First off, you don't have to use the 1.3 updater you got. That's a hacked version. The official Apple supported firmware for WiPods is 1.2.6 which you can get off of their website.
Just thought you should know.
What I would do is first try to do it w/the 1.2.6 updater and see if that works.
I think that you might have luck w/it. Oh, make sure you disable any anti-virus program you're running when you run the Updater program, those can sometimes interfere w/the connection.
When you do get it working, you're going to want to click on the "Restore" button to convert it to a WiPod.
