Uh Ohhh
This is my first ipod trouble run in. I was listening to some pink floyd with my ipod and I went to turn on the back light and it froze. I paniced and didnt know what to do. THen the entire ipod turned off, but the hard drive was still spinning full speed. I plugged it in and the thing came back to life and worked again so i put it in its case and went to bed. Well i woke up 12 hours later picked up my ipod and the hard drive was STILL spinning. The dumb @ss that i am, i left it on all night with the hard drive spinning never doing a apple reset. Do u think i could have done damage or shortend the life of my ipod? Once i did a reset it worked fine, but i still am worried that 12 hours of constant running is damaging. Any thoughts?

No, I doubt you did much damage if any. Was it hot when you picked it up? Hopefully it wasn't in a case and the heat sink on the back was not covered up.
If you compare the iPod's HDD use to that of any PC HDD, it really is not used nearly as much as your PC is. And you typically get many years out of a PC HDD.
You'll be fine...
