PCI Card No Power

This is my first time post here. Sorry if this question had been asked before.

I got a new 30gig. Bought a new PCI 1394 card. Now I can't get power from it.

I follow the instruction in the Q&A that is to press Menu and Play untill I see the Apple logo, then press Forward and Back in the same time and my ipod should be in the force wife wire mood. But after I do so, all I get from my ipod is a big check mark and says is was ok to disconnect.

Now I can only charge through power outlet.

Any help are appriciated.

Thanks Guys.

So this is definitely a PCI and not a PCMCIA card? You're using this on a Desktop? I've never heard of a PCI card that didn't supply power.

Try switching the PCI slot that your card is plugged into. Some of the PCI slots are bus-powered and this can cause this problem.

Have you ever been able to get it to connect?

Yes, I'm useing it on desktop. I tried all three slots, none of them give power.

Could it be my ipod setting??

Many thanks

No, there is no setting in the iPod that would change this. Check the specifications of the card on the manufacturer's web site. Some cards have a power plug on them. You can put a power plug from your PCs main power supply to this.

Sorry that probably didn't make sense, but check the PC manufacturer's web site to see if it is powered.
