Playing Ipod through computer

Hi,
I have had my 30gb (Windows XP with ephod )ipod for about 2 days and have not had any major problems. My one question is , am I right in assuming that I will not be able to keep my ipod in the dock while is it ejected and play songs from the ipod through my soundcard on my computer ? that is with my speakers still plugged into my soundcard. Or is it ever possible to play songs from my ipod through my soundcard ? Thanks.

This is possible actually. You do need to leave it unejected, and in the dock.

Just open with your computer/media player the files on the ipod (in folders f00-f19). The file names will be screwy, but the player shoudl figure them out from the tags.

You can use also a program you used for uploading music to iPod. In this case you should be able to navigate using artists, albums, playlists.

If you have one of those iPOD Dr Bott connection kits there is a cable in there that allows connection to your line in on your card. I'm assuming that should allow you to play directly if you connect to your MP3 player from the line in on your card.

Oh and Ephpod opens up Windows Media Player and plays the track if you right click the song and choose "play song"

Actually, Ephpod opens your default MP3 player, in my case, Winamp.

Ephpod works fine for this task.
