It wasn't in May. Maybe now the cable included. Anyway it can be purchased separately.

Since the only Mac usuing USB2 is the new G5, I seriously doubt that they will include the USB2 cable with the iPods seeing how they are both for mac and PC. Seems like a waste of money for them.

Just got my 10GB iPod today (7/10), and it does not come with the USB cable.

hi ,
the new ipods do not come with the USB 2.0 cable. you need to buy it separately from apple for $20, eithe online or at their store.
i bought it myself and it works great.

It might be faster or it might not. If it is, it won't be by much. You really have to decide what is better, paying $18 for a USB2 cable, or buying a firewire card. MO is it's better to get the FW card but it might not be better for you. I have a external FW drive, and Sony video equipment so FW was the way for me to go.

USB cables are worth getting if u plan to use your iPod on other comps, ie using it as a portable HDD. Well thats what im gonna buy the cable for... eventually.

Well, not sure how the electrical end works on the new iPods, but if your dock can get power from the firewire card, then I'd go with firewire, since you won't have to plug in to the electrical outlet, otherwise it's a toss-up.

I think it is quite disgraceful that USB users have to buy a seperate cable to use their new toy.
I have firewire and have had the iPod for about 2months and love it but would have to think carefully about it if I was to purchase now.

Again, why should Apple include a cable that only half, at most, of the users would use? I'm not even a Mac user, and I wonder why you want me to pay an extra 18 bucks for a cable I don't want, and one that I would never use. So, would you rather buy a 15gb iPod for 399 without a cable or 417 for one with a cable, or are you really saying that Apple should include the cable for free?
Apple did it because they figured most of their users wouldn't want the cable, and wouldn't even be able to use it, even if they did include it.

I just found this on the iPod page at the Apple Store at the very bottom it says "USB 2.0 requires Internet download available in June." is this true or can I still load my albums that I ripped onto the iPod.
