can I transfer from pc ipod to Mac?

I currently have my iPod formatted for the Windows PC. If I plug my iPod into a Mac will it try to format my iPod and wipe all my songs? I want to transfer a bunch of my songs off my iPod onto a Mac. Is there anyway this can be done?

Yes, Mac's can read FAT32 drives so there will be no problem there. Just make sure that you don't have iTunes configured on the Mac to auto-sync. Otherwise you will lose your songs.

Check out the Mac boards here in the 'lounge on how to get files off of the iPod...I think you need some software tool that's available.

I just did this but in a different way. I dragged the'my music' folder from my pc onto the ipod then hooked the ipod up to my mac and dragged the folder off.

If your not sure if auto synch is turned on in itunes you can hold down command-option when you plug the ipod into the mac until it shows up in itunes. This will disable autosynch for one time.

I only had about 10 GB on my 30GB ipod when I did this so I had plenty of room. If your ipod is full you would have to take the songs off first to create room for your music folder.

The only problem was macs reading/writing to fat 32 is pretty slow.
