A few questions

I'm serioulys debating wether or not to buy an iPod. It has come down to what model to buy and a few questions that I have.

1. How hard is it to get my iPod to play SHN and FLAC files?

2. Can I hook my iPod into my car/home stereo via RCA cables?

What can you tell me about your iPod? You can't live with out? It was either this or a cd changer for my car and I think that this would be the best move. Thanks for all your input.

Hey tiedyetoga, I just recently registered as well!

I don't have any answers to your first question, but I believe the iPod can hook up to your car/home stereo via RCA cables such as the ones found in the Get Connected Bundle (http://www.xtrememac.com/foripod/audio_bundles.shtml), it should be item E on the list.

I'm planning on doing the same thing with my car stereo..but my head unit can play mp3 CD's...I just think it would be cool to hook up the iPod to it :)

Anyway, as far as the iPod goes, I love it. I didn't think I would love it this much, but I'm a gadget freak.
My Primary purposes of buying it was for data backup...Yeah I know 15GB isn't much to backup on but it serves its purposes and backsup MP3's and plays them :)

Good luck!

Don't even know what SHN and FLAC files are. But I know this: the iPod supports WAV, mp3 and AAC...that's it.

I was reading that the iPod can support those files. MP3's and ACC files are lousey compression were SHN and FLAC are lossless. I know that DBpoweramp supports them and so does winamp. I was wondering if I can get my iPod to work with DBpoweramp and then install the SHN/FLAC codec if they would play. I posted some links below to show you what I mean.

DBpoweramp:

FLAC:

Also I ment to ask, what is the best store to buy an iPod. I think I'm going to go with the 15 gig G3. Just not sure where to buy it from.

I bought mine over at Dell, but I waited about a month or so...I couldn't beat the deal they were offering on it though.

Also check your local stores like BestBuy...sometimes they have openbox/returns. Last month I saw a 15GB iPod returned, still in shrink wrapped, marked down to like $350.

I don't have a Best Buy around me. i dunno why, we just don't have one. I might go to like Comp USA and pick one up. I want it today so who knows.
