silly noob questions about converting a macpod to a winpod

ok, i am getting myself a second hand 10gig ipod soon.

it is currently mac formatted, but i run windows.

i've read the sticky, and i've read some other threads, but i want to make sure i've got this 100% correct.

here's the process as i see it:

1. install firewire card, i am planning to buy the "3 Port D-Link DRF-A3 FireWire card" from www.scan.co.uk

will this card work ok?

2. plug in ipod, and wait for windows xp to recognise it.

3. run the windows software updater 1.2.6 (which i have downloaded) selecting *restore* to continue.

4. install ephpod, which again, i have already downloaded.

is this correct?

or would it be a better idea to install ephpod before formatting the ipod?

thanks in advance for your help

Nope what you have there is correct. Installing ephpod last is ok. As long as you do those steps you posted you will be on the fast track to iPod stardom!:D

I had no problems whatsoever converting. I wanted a windows 20gb, but all they had at the compusa was the mac version. I told the saleman that I would just convert to windows, he did not even know that it was possible.

from what I have read, asking this question may sound elementary but how do convert from mac to winpod and how do you know which one you have?
