Waiting for a G3 Windows XP Solution

Cripes! So it is clear there is yet no solution for those with a 3G ipod and Windows XP. I could strangle Apple...or the EU...or whomever, for this cursed volume limitation.

I am an American living in London and I ponied up for the ipod at Heathrow duty-free. The ipod packaging provided no indication that the product was hobbled. Had I known, I would have bought it in the States with full-duty. Furthermore, thinking either I was near deaf or the ipod buds were useless, I bought a pair of the Etymotic ER-4P headphones. NOT A CHEAP SOLUTION!!!! I know I will have a quality product in the ER-4P earphones, but I would likely not have bought them had I known a policy wonk was responsible for the stupid volume limitation.

What's next? Will the EU be limiting the genre of songs one is allowed to listen to on the ipod? "NO ROCK-N-ROLL FOR YOU!!!", says the EU Soup Nazi.

Can we get it straight that the 100 decibal limit on the iPod is because of FRENCH law, the EU has absolutley nothing to do with it. And to comply with it apple just limited all of Europe (Im assuming it wouldnt have been cost effective to release a version just for france?)
To date there are no fixes for the stupid volume limit.
And what has XP got to do with it?

Frankly, I don't care if it was the EU, or France, or gamma radiation. I bought an ipod with the expectiation it would be more useful than it is. I am hard of hearing and need to crank the volume more than most. I am looking forward to someone coming up with a fix for this. I feel like I bought a $30,000 car that can't go more than 40MPH.

I dont think theres going to be a fix for it, i mean apple wouldnt even admit that the cap existed to start with. I seriousley think that were stuck with it, which is making me consider returning mine. I think i got a few more days to decide.
