Easy CD-DA Extractor and ripping tunes for iPod?
I hear everyone talking about CDex and EAC (looks very complicated) and MC9 (a bit expensive) but no one mentions Easy CD-DA. I was wondering waht r ur experiences with this prog and if its quality is good. I`ve been using it for some time and looks very easy to use + it uses LAME (3.91 i think) and it gives good sound quality. I was wondering if MC9 is really that better and if i should dich Easy CDDA for MC9? The most important thing is sound quality!

Not a big fan of Easy CD-DA..Don't like the ripper.
I get fantastic quality using MC9's ripper in digital secure mode, and LAME 3.90.2 (the best version of the LAME encoder) as an external encoder through MC9.

Doesn't rip in digital secure mode. I've had problems with Easy CD-DA and quickly discarded it. CDex is slightly better. EAC/LAME or MC9 is the best, IMHO...

I don't know about previous versions, but I have v6 and it does a FANTASTIC job.
The clarity of sound is outstanding (I can't tell the difference between tunes ripped with EZCD and those done with MC9 which I tried for a while), and the best thing is that it uses the Gracenote database for disc information. This is the same database that is used by iTunes.
In addition, there is a full tag editor, which is intuitive and effective, and you can convert from one audio format to another (like from wma to mp3), and has the facility to rip from analog (e.g. vinyl) sources.
If this sounds like an 'all in one' tool, it's pretty close. Only thing it doesn't have is the iPod module, so I have to use Ephpod for that.
Note: playlists generated by EZCD will not transfer to iPod, that is a drawback.
IMHO, this is an excellent tool, and those who haven't tried it should give it a chance.
Cheers
