Lotus Notes Address Book to iPod Contacts

My father just bought a 30GB Windows iPod and he wants to add his Lotus Notes Address Book to the ipod contacts. Lotus Notes uses nsf files and the ipod only reads vcards. Is there a way to convert his address book to vcards?

You'd probably have to find some type of connector for Outlook that could read .nsf files. Not much a chance of it, but might be worth a try. You might also be able to find an export tool for Notes. I will say though, Notes has some pretty good security and getting around it in the way of third party programs will be difficult.

You can export your Notes Contacts to vcard format from within Notes 6.0.

Here is the documentation from the Notes6 Help file for performing the export:
1. Click this icon (icon of a Franklin Planner type binder) in the Bookmark bar to open your address book to the Contacts view. Or manually open your local names.nsf file (same thing).
Tip You can also export from an open contact document in read mode, but using the view is more convenient for exporting multiple contacts at once.
2. (Optional) Select the contact(s) you want to export.
3. From the menu, choose File - Export.
4. Under "Save as type," select vCard 2.1 or vCard 3.0.
5. Enter a name for the file. Notes automatically gives the file an extension of VCF.
6. Click Export. A vCard Export dialog box appears.
7. If you selected contacts in step 2, click "Selected documents."
8. Do one of the following to create a file appropriate for the users with whom you intend to share the file:
For Notes mail users, leave "International (UTF-8)" selected.
For users of other mail systems, click "Native character set."
Tip If you are unsure who will use the file, or if both Notes and other mail users will share it, export it twice in both formats.
9. (Optional) If you intend to share the file with Notes mail users, and want to export as much contact information as possible, select "All fields" instead of "Only basic address fields."
10. Click OK.

Once you have exported the Vcard file, file the normal iPod directions for loading the vCard file onto the iPod.

At this time there is not a way that I know of to sync these records.

Good Luck.
