Maybe a Firewire problem?

This forum was really helpful when I got my iPod last year. I can even use MusicMatch with it! I haven't had any trouble until a few days ago. I'd connect, the iPod would be recognized by MMJB, but when I would try and load music, it was veeeery slow. Now, it doesn't work at all -- my system freezes and I have to reboot. The iPod is still working fine. I checked it out as an external hard drive and am having kind of the same problem -- I can maneuver around for a bit, then it freezes and the iPod makes the same whirring-clicking noise that it does when it freezes in MMJB. I was able to update the iPod Updater, no problem, and I originally thought it was a MMJB problem ('cause, you know, it's MMJB!), but now I suspect a Firewire problem. I have a Belkin, that I bought (no lie) at the Apple store when I got my iPod. So does it make sense that the card has gone bad or something? Windows says it's working fine.

I don't want to reformat the 3500+ songs I have on the iPod!

Thanks for any help...

Have you installed any new software lately that could be causing the conflict?

The other option is to try the iPod out on another computer w/firewire.

The popping clicking could be either the firewire or the iPod itself. :(

Thanks for the suggestions! I ended up having to restore the iPod and whatever was wrong with it is fixed now. Some kind of file problem? No idea. I just hope I don't have to restore it later after I've put the 3500 songs back on!
