iPod displays wrong available space.

When i go to the about menu, my iPod displays:
Capacity 13.8GB
Available 10.4GB
My iPod is more than half full. but it says i have 10GB left?
its not so much of a problem... its just wierd.
anyone else had any similar problems?

I think its 13 as they take 1GB as 1billion bytes. when its actually 1024bytes in a kb, 1024kb in a MB and 1024MB in a GB.

Yeah, I've got the same thing: 18.5 - capacity; 17.3 - available and I actually have about 9.2 available. I tried reinstalling the software; as I refiled it with music it seemed to measure just fine until I hit 17.3, and then it stopped.

I've decided that it is no big deal, there is nothing I can do about hte amount of room left unless the Ipod is hooked up to a computer, in which case i can find out exactly how much disk space I have. I just hope its not the tip of a much bigger iceburg.

why is it that in the 15 gig model that the programs and firmware on the ipod take up 1.2 gigs but on the 10 it only takes up 0.8 gigs? seems weird... shouldnt it all be the same stuff?

I found that same problem on my 3g 30 -- in correct display of remaining space. After I upgraded to 2.0.1 it displayed correctly.

You might try to use ephpod to rebuild the database.
