USB connector compatible w/ WinMe?

I just bought a 15 GB iPod and the Dock-to-USB Connector. When I downloaded the 2.0.1 Updater, the readme.doc said:

"System requirements:
*Windows Me (FireWire only)"

I have Windows ME...does this mean I can't use the USB connector, only FireWire? Because my computer recognizes the "USB Disk," but the "iPod Manager" does not recognize that it is plugged in. The USB connector worked perfectly on my sister's Windows XP. What can I do?

Also, I'm having the same problem as other people. When I tried to use the installation CD, it wanted me to configurate my iPod but it would not recognize it! Under my Device Manager, it recognizes the "USB Disk" but nothing is listed as "iPod." Please help! :(

Yay! I fixed my problem!

I talked w/ Apple Tech Support and it is true: APPLE DOES NOT PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR WINDOWS ME WHEN YOU USE THE USB CONNECTOR. It may or may not work, my tech guy said.

Also, my other problem was that I only have USB 1.1 and not 2.0. If you're not sure what you have, go to your Device Manager and check under USB. If you have a Universal Host Controller, you only have 1.1. If there's something that says "Advanced blah blah blah," you have 2.0.

The tech guy recommended that I just go for a FireWire card since I have both USB 1.1 and WinMe.
