Firmware Update, Ephpod User

I read that there is a firmware update out there, excuse my ignorance but what is firmware?

I have a 30gig and use Ephpod and didn't download anything like that, I just ran updater and went to town with Ephpod. Was it on the unit from the factory? Do I want/need this update?

Firmware is the software on the iPod that makes it work. Think of it as the iPod's operating system. Like windows is the operating system on your computer.

This update fixes a number of issues w/the 2.0 version of the firmware that came w/your ipod. So, yes you should download the new updater, install it on your PC and then run it. It will update the iPod's firmware super quick and easy.
