Updater - "Cant Unmount iPod"

I don't know what happened but when ever I try to restore my iPod right after formatting I can hear windows unmounting the iPod then the updater says "Can't unmount iPod"
Any one else have this problem? I searched and nothing came up.

No, I have no problem with unmounting. Just when i'm restoring the iPod it formats it then it says it cant unmount. But I can hear the little disconnecting sound from windows.

Casual, yea I had the same error message ... it got to about 75% thro' the progress bar at which point 'Can't Unmount' error popped up and just hung there for a no. of mins ... however the iPod now has v 2.01 (says so in the 'about' menu) and of the more obvious fixes the clicking seems to have gone ... hopefully all in place and fully updated ... so will it now do my laundry and make end-of-the-day small talk with my girlfriend when i get in from work, tired and socially numb? ...

I had the same problem but was able to fix it. I have the 30gb IPOD. My PC is running XP.

I uninstalled everything (software) that I received from Apple. This included MusicMatch and everything else that came on the CD.

I did a minimum 3rd party install following the instructions from Kurt on the old forum. This means I did not install MusicMatch. I use MC9.

If you are using MusicMatch, you could not repeat what I did, however, you could try the uninstall and reinstall of everything. My theory is that sometimes the install gets corrupted. I know a lot of people are having no problem in this area.

Good Luck,

Randy
