Is My PCMCIA Card No Good?

First of all, thank you to everyone who posted problems and suggestions about their firewire cards. I do not mean to be redundant, and excuse me if I am, but I am in a little bit of a bind.

I got a new 20 gb winPod last week as a gift. Yesterday the firewire card I ordered (http://store.yahoo.com/dealsonic/sy3pofica3wu.html) arrived and I spent hours trying to upload songs to it. I am using ephpod (thanks to the suggestions of posters here).

Anyways, to sum things up, I keep getting the disk write error prompt. Thus, from reading the posts here, I concluded that it must be the firewire card. What stumps me is that I am able to use the iPod updater to restore the iPod and even update my firmware from 1.2.1 to 1.2.6 or something rather. Has anyone else with firewire card problems been able to do use the updater successfully but not be able to load music?

I'm going to get a better card today or tomorrow... Any specific suggestions on PCMCIA? Thanks in advance.

I don't know anything about the particular card you ordered--but I would strongly recommend the adaptec fireconnect PCMCIA card. Adaptec seems to be the preferred firwire card hear-- a friend of mine just got one after he ordered a Belkin card (which didn't work), and the Adaptec has worked flawlessly for him...

Thanks Chris for your help. I'll definitely look into the Adaptec Fireconnect card for my laptop.
