update 1.2.2 -> 1.2.6 ?
hi!
i?ve tried to update my 5gb ipod to 1.2.6. the updating process stopped because of not enough disc space on my notebook. i freed some space and tried again.
since then, the update runs completely until it says "finished", but nothing happens. no error message, no update. furthermore the updating process is much to fast. any ideas?
thanks,
tibor

So, the progress bar updates on the PC, but it goes really fast? How fast? 10 seconds? 30 maybe? 20-30 would be what I expect.
After it goes through the update, disconnect your iPod and connect it to a power source. It needs that to finish the restore. I'm guessing that since you're on a laptop the iPod isn't getting power from the firewire port. Connecting it to the AC adaptor should result in a progress bar that eventually shows up. This will complete the restore.

ashawley,
first, thanks for your answer. the progress bar on the pc goes _very_ fast: 1 or 2 seconds.
after the update, nothing happens. the updater programm just says "press the finish button to finish the update...", well the usual stuff. after i do so, again, nothing happens.
i do see what you mean by connecting the ipod to the ac adaptor such as you described. i know that process from restoring my ipod to 1.2.2. but that doesn?t happen either.
i think that somewhere down in the dephts of my windows folders there must be some files make the uptdater work wrong. i think that these files derive from the first abortive attempt to update...

ashawley,
i just tested it again, and to be more specific: the problem is not the updating process, but the installation of the updater: i tried a different folder for the updater to install to and voila: nothing is installed in the folder. no files at all...

hmm...
Ya know what I would do? Go into Add/Remove programs and make sure that you've uninstalled all versions of the iPod Updater program. I seem to remember from the 1.22 to the 1.2.6 days that you needed to do that.
Have you tried that yet?
