Worth Upgrading?
Hi,
After reformatting my PC twice and it still failing to recognise my IPOD (old model) I have been offered an exchnage to the new model. Apart from the extra storage is it worth it?
I also understand that they all now come preformatted to MAC and as such I need to format it to Windows is this right and if so how easy is it to do?
Thanks

If your PC didn't recognoze the old iPod it probably will have the same issues with the new one. You'll still have to solve that problem. Are they going to charge you full price for the "upgrade"? Maybe just trying a new firewire card would be a better/cheaper solution....

I would definitely go with the 30gigger :)

Zeke, I am using a NISIS 4 port firewire upgrade card, it seemed ok initally, its listed as a network adapter 1394 Net Adapter...
But latley I connected the Ipod to the PC and it promptly froze my PC (hence the eventual re-format) I attempted to reset the IPOD with Pause and Menu then force it into firedisc mode FFW & RRW to no avail currently You connect it and it the IPOD states 'Ok to disconnect' If I could format the thing that would be a start.
I just feel Im getting nowhere. I have around 1300 tunes on it and love it dearly but it is annoying me.

Well, since the upgrade to a new 15GB is free do that! But first figure out a way to back up your old iPod. Try someone elses PC if you can. You don't wanna lose those songs if you don't have 'em backed up. Then I would try the new Pod. If the same problem occurs (sounds like it might) you will definately need to try a different firewire card. I have an adaptec card that has never given m any problems. Maybe you can try one of those.
Obviously if your old Pod doesn't even work on another PC (when/if you try it) then the pod went bad somehow.
