Getting Composer on iPod from Windows?

New iPod has Composers, however it looks like MusicMatch on Windows doesn't support them. This list is always empty, although ID3 tags include this information. Is it different on Mac?

iTunes allows entry of the Composer ID3 tag, although I do not use it.

You can access Composer data on a Windows iPod in two ways (that I know of):

1. Tag your music with the standard ID3v2 composer tag. Use XPlay (http://www.mediafour.com/products/xplay) to add your music to your iPod. The composer tag will be browsable.

2. Inport your music into Media Center 9 (http://www.jrmediacenter.com). Populate the composer tag within MC9, then use MC9 to send your music to your iPod. The composer tag will be browsable on your iPod.

I believe XPlay is $30 and MC9 is $40. In a nutshell:

XPlay gives you a "Windows Explorer" interface for your iPod, making manually adding/modifying/removing music to/from your iPod as easy as browsing through folders on your computer. XPlay also comes with a "plugin" for Windows Media Player 8 and 9, which will allow you to synchronize your iPod with WMP playlists, in much the same way that the provided software, MMJB, does.

MC9 is a direct replacement for MMJB, allowing broad control over the organization and management of your music. You can create playlist (both regular and "smart") and synchronize your iPod with them. MC9 also has many things that MMJb doesn't have, such as ratings, playcounts/last played dates, composer info, video and TV playback, digital image cataloging, and dozens of other "power" features. There's a slight learning curve which turns off some customers, but once you're past it, you'll find that you're in total control of ALL your media.

Since (unless I am mistaken), MOCKBA was looking for a way to get Composer info onto his iPod from a Windows PC, and asked about Mac support only out of curiosity, I am going to move this thread to the "iPod Windows - General" forum so all the Windows users will see Kurt's helpful post of Windows solutions.

I changed the thread's subject as well....
