Frozen on "Do Not Disconnect"

My 15gb IPOD on windows 2000 is frozen on the "Do NOt Disconnect" and won't turn off. I tried unmounting and ejecting the device from the manager and musicmatch box, but it won't respond. On the computer, it says it was working on "building volume leveling" but then i turned off my computer and it was still frozen on "Do Not Disconnect." Am I going to need to reset it and lose my library? Please help ASAP and thanks for the help.

As far as I remember (I took my ipod back) when you reset it doesn't wipe the drive.

I cant remember seeing anything other than 'do not disconnect' on my screen when connected, though after i'd exited ephpod and removed it from the cradle it did revert back to the main menu.

even if you do wipe it its surely easy enough to upload the stuff again?
