Firewire speed
I remember someone mentioning that which slot you install your firewire card into can hurt it's performance or not make it work at all. Well, currently, I almost never get more than 2 or 2.5 mbits/sec when transferring to the ipod. So, might that be because it's not in the optimal spot for my computer?

septus,
i have a 4-pin firewire on my 3ghz pIII-M notebook (win xp home) and get with ephpod approx. 2,9 mb/s.
i think this speed is normal for pc users. check out ephpod's website, i think i read something about that there in the faqs.

weird, i average 9 mb/s on a "good day", and 5 mb/s "off day". I have a sony vaio laptop, w/ an ilnk port (4 pin firewire).

all you guys who see different speeds with Ephpod and MC9
could you please see if changing to "Use Windows Copying routines" in Ephpoh make the sync go faster?
the reason i ask is that i might want to buya firewire card, because my usb1.1 gives me only 0.8 MBps

No, windows copy routines generally just doesn't work in ephpod. Joe (the creator) used to say this was due to a bug on Windows. Not sure on that, but I tend to think he knows what he's talking about.
Anyway, don't use it anymore so I don't know if it ever got fixed, but it used to be a big "no-no" to use the window's copy routines option.
