Running a gen 3 on the original Windows 98

Hi, a friend of mine wants to buy a gen 3 iPod but his pc only has Windows 98 (not the SE edition). Is it possible to run the new gen 3's on the original windows 98?

This is from Apple's website. So it looks like you will need at least Windows Me!

Windows Requirements and Software PC with built-in FireWire or USB 2.04, or Windows-certified FireWire or USB 2.0 card; Windows Me, Windows 2000 or Windows XP Home or Professional; CD includes MUSICMATCH Jukebox Plus 7.5 software

Well windows 98 SE is fine, though a couple of tricks are needed to get everything running...
But win98 (not se) does not support firewire, so for iPod support you're left with USB2 support which is meant to be out someday(end of june i think). i wouldn't recommend buying an iPod with intention of using USB2 until it's not out, since it could be quite a disapointment, what apple does isn't always what apple says so...(1.3 due "early may", still not out..)
