15GB IPOD completely dead !
I erased my IPOD and reloaded Mp3s onto it using Ephpod on Windows XP. After i exited Ephod my Ipod still said "do not disconnect" but as i could not see any obvious way of dismounting so i just pressed the menu and hold button which gave me the Apple log and then disconnected. But now it does not respond although it does give a faint whining noise so there is some power in there !
Window XP can no longer see my IPOD.
Help please !

You were supposed to right click on the little iPod icon at the bottom right-hand corner and then click Unmount iPod. You did exactly what it said not to do - you disconnected the iPod when it said not to. I am not sure what happens to your iPod when you do this though and I am not sure if it is fixable.

Penbat, relax..nothing happens. (yet). I had to do that a couple of times when i first tried to set it up as well, and had to disconnect when it said dont.
No major problems yet..just the usual freezing..so shld be no long term damage.

OK ! My Ipod has now come up with the battery flat symbol and i don't have a suitable PC available to test it on right now. But before the battery flattened itself i could not even get my PC to see the IPOD in explorer. Also operating the IPod itself i only got the Apple logo and it would not acknowledge it if i connected my IPOD to the mains adaptor.
So how can i resolve this ?

try another reset with the a/c adapter connected. if that doesn?t work, do a complete restore (with the supplied software; you?ll lose all the music on the ipod). see if you can put it into forced firewire disk mode (check the faqs). that way the computer may recognise the ipod as an external hdd and you can copy the ipod control folder onto your computer, so you won?t lose all your music. the restore ought to have it back and running.

But currently my PC does not even recognise my Ipod so i cannot get my PC to communicate with it at all.
One thing I omitted to mention was that i previously did a Windows XP disk format on my IPod (as i suspected i might have a few corruption problems with tracks skipping).
I then opened Ephpod which said i was missing some essential Ipod directory files which i then got Ephpod to load. I then added loads of Mp3s with no problem at all. I didn't see a little Ipod symbol to right-click and select Unmount on after i exited from Ephod.

doesn?t the computer recognise the ipod after you put it into forced disk mode? when it?s rebooting press ff and rw at the same time. then run the updater.

Thanks guys. You suggestions sound promising. I will try them out when i get access to my regular PC later on today.
