Firewire = S400?

Hi, I just ordered a 20 GB Ipod from PC Mall. The question that I have is this, is the firewire on my Sony VIAO laptop labeled I S400 the right connection for the Ipod to work?

Yes, S400 is a silly name for Firewire,i.Link,IEEE 1394.

Thanks for your responses. if it doesnt provide power how do i charge it? sorry for all the stupid questions, until now my most complicated accessory was a printer.

To charge it, you have to take the firewire cable out of the computer (and out of the 6 pin to 4 pin adapter) and plug it into the AC adapter that came with your iPod.

gotcha, thanks, the information that i have read on the net from the company that is selling the ipod (pc mall) didnt mention an ac adapter, good to know that it comes with one.
