Changing versions without losing music.

Hey guys, I am new here but I would really appreciate your help. I just got a 20 gig Ipod from a friend who upgraded. It has roughly 2700 songs on it that I would love to keep. My problem is that the Ipod is a Mac version and I wanted to convert it in to a Winnie. How can I do this without losing all the music? I would appreciate any ideas. Thank you

welcome to ipodlounge, CEDARS1974! :)

as far as i know, you can?t. you need to copy your songs from the ipod to the computer and then resync after formatting to fat32.

Can you force it into harddrive mode (while still a mac format) and still assign it a drive letter to copy the files?

I connected to my computer and it shows up as E drive but will not let me do anything to it. It will say drive is not formatted do you want to format now. Worth a try though, thanks
