30gb pod but dont want to store 30gb mp3s on my PC?
Hi - I've got a 30gb iPOD but don't want to use up 3/4 of my PC hard-drive storing 30gb of CDs on it. How can I synch all my CDs in small amounts without overwriting what's on the iPOD?
I'm using winxp (home) and Ephpod for synching (MMJB for ripping).
Thanks,
BM

don?t use the sync feature in ephpod, instead add songs to the ipod manually. everytime you?ve added a bunch of songs, you can delete them on your computer. the next time you connect to the ipod, simply manually add songs again...
try to backup your songs on cd?s though. if something happens with your ipod, all data will be lost as well.

Actually, there is an option in Ephpod to delete songs that dont match on the ipod. What i would do is this:
1Copy as many songs as can fit on the computer, then sync with the delete unmatched songs unchecked.
2delete from your computer all of those songs
3copy the rest of the songs, making sure delete unmatched songs is unchecked
4repeat as necessary
This works great in my opinion, ive been doing it for a while, and have found no negatives to it.

Hard Drives are cheap now, if you spent $500 (+tax/shipping) on a 30GB iPod, surely you can spend $60 on an 80GB hard drive? Trust me, after ripping 30GBs of music and tagging everything perfectly, you are NOT going to want to do that again.
But if you are determined to make your situation work, then use ephod (without the sync feature) as everyone has already said. Ephod will allow you to manually add or remove songs as you like.
