Audio CDs that my CDplayer reads but PC wont
all of my audio CD's (even copy protected) work & rip fine on my PC, except 1 - Metallica S&M - my PC won't even acknowledge it's in the drive. anyone else come across the same results with any other cd's? it's puzzled the hell out of me how they've done it.

yep it's some sort of protection against piracy, try Exact Audio Copy: www.exactaudiocopy.de
Sometimes I've seen that EAC can do what other rippers can't.

peterodda:
Both hardware and software can make a significant difference. In addition to EAC, try to get access to a plextor drive; they seem to be much more successful in allowing digital extraction.

check out the old fora for some discussions on copy protection (http://www.xsorbit1.com/users/dennx/index.cgi?board=thelounge&action=display&num=1041064663&start=1).
go here (http://www.xsorbit1.com/users/dennx/index.cgi?board=ipodgeneral&action=display&num=1038713982&start=1) and here (http://www.xsorbit1.com/users/dennx/index.cgi?board=ipodgeneral&action=display&num=1036566423&start=9) for some help on how to maybe deal with copy protection. search the database of this forum as well, since it?s quite a hot topic.
