firmware update

Well I'd like to welcome myself back to these forums, where I spent the months leading up to the first WinPod's release date (Sept 2002) asking questions and sharing my excitement of the windows iPod.

And then I went away. Went travelling round the world to remote places with nothing but me and my 20GB iPod. And now I log back on to ipodlounge to find a NEW IPOD has been released!!

Woo hoo.

Anyway, my question to those in the know. The new iPod has the on the go playlist feature??Correct? Can you create playlists on the go without the use of a PC/Mac?

In that case, does anyone know if Apple plan to release this firmware update for 2nd Gen iPods?? I really need that feature and will be seriously F***** off if the new firmware isn't backwards compatible. I mean, its only 8 months ago when I splashed the cash for a 20GB iPod. There aint no way I'm doing that again. All I want is to be able to create playlists without access to my PC.

Also, does the new iPods have a crossfade feature? So when you play albums (dance mixes etc) the songs just mix in as the do on CD. that is also a must.

Cheers People!

I believe only the new pods can create playlists on the fly.

There is a pause between songs still, unfortunately.
